About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide business-minded legal guidance to a growing healthcare software company, including around privacy, secure payment and billing practices, information security, intellectual property, and procurement.
  • Provide guidance on a broad range of privacy and security frameworks, including HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging state data privacy laws.
  • Contract drafting and review in support of Tebra’s business development, operations, products and services.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to conduct legal reviews of new software features, ensuring compliance by design.
  • Proactive identification, mitigation, and management of legal and compliance risks to the business.
  • Provide support and legal guidance to ensure Tebra’s compliance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements and Tebra’s policies and procedures.
  • Oversee response to (i) customer-related subpoena requests from government entities and (ii) customer and patient requests for personal and health information.
  • Manage customer and vendor escalations and disputes to resolution.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3-5 years’ experience as in-house counsel for a software or technology company or national law firm.
  • Ability to work well with employees and managers at all levels within Tebra.
  • Strong ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with adopting AI-driven legal tools to improve productivity and manage high-volume contract review.
  • Must have a JD from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice in California (or eligible for Registered In-House Counsel status).
  • Experience with legal matters in the healthcare industry or SaaS sector is preferred.
