About the role

  • Lead daily field operations to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Execute project plans and schedules, uphold site safety and quality control, and manage the work of field staff, contractors, and tradespeople.
  • Ensure projects meet approved plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Lead the development of Project Quality Plans and Safety Programs, and oversee incident investigations.
  • Review and update construction schedules, address delays, and contribute to project schedules.
  • Estimate activity durations and materials for complex projects.
  • Participate in subcontractor and supplier selection, procurement, and negotiations.
  • Set priorities and allocate resources as needed for the entire field team.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project staff and Superintendents.

Requirements

  • One to three years of experience as a Telecommunications construction Superintendent
  • Experience in aerial and underground fiber installation methods is a plus (Plow and Horizontal Directional Drill, HDD)
  • Post-secondary education in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline is an asset
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and current construction practices
  • Effective communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to directly supervise craft employees as well as sub-contractors
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to anticipate and address issues
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
