About the role
- Lead daily field operations to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Execute project plans and schedules, uphold site safety and quality control, and manage the work of field staff, contractors, and tradespeople.
- Ensure projects meet approved plans, specifications, and building codes.
- Lead the development of Project Quality Plans and Safety Programs, and oversee incident investigations.
- Review and update construction schedules, address delays, and contribute to project schedules.
- Estimate activity durations and materials for complex projects.
- Participate in subcontractor and supplier selection, procurement, and negotiations.
- Set priorities and allocate resources as needed for the entire field team.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to project staff and Superintendents.
Requirements
- One to three years of experience as a Telecommunications construction Superintendent
- Experience in aerial and underground fiber installation methods is a plus (Plow and Horizontal Directional Drill, HDD)
- Post-secondary education in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline is an asset
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, drawings, specifications, and current construction practices
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Ability to directly supervise craft employees as well as sub-contractors
- Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to anticipate and address issues
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
