About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Grow and deepen TD’s commercial banking portfolio
- Partner with business clients to deliver tailored financial solutions
- Acquire, develop, and manage commercial banking relationships across commercial segments
- Identify opportunities, structure complex financing and cash-management solutions, and build long-term relationships with up-market clients
- Develop new business with prospects having complex credit needs
- Define new approaches to sell and deliver solutions
- Oversee management and activities of large accounts and related servicing teams
- Manage strategic relationships involving complex products and services
- Lead client engagements, problem resolution, and complex projects or programs
- Meet growth goals for loans, deposits, and fees through new business and cross-selling
- Make sales calls and gather financial and business information for credit decisions
- Recommend loan decisions based on credit-risk evaluation
- Negotiate terms and communicate credit decisions
- Lead relationship management for an assigned portfolio, segment, and/or geography
- Provide exceptional customer service and act as a trusted advisor
- Generate referrals to business partners and develop community relationships
- Develop and implement sales strategies and business development activities
- Assess credit requests and contribute to credit applications
- Manage operational, regulatory, and enterprise risks
- Participate in process improvements and cross-functional initiatives
- Mentor colleagues, share expertise, and contribute to team development
Requirements
What you’ll need- Undergraduate degree
- 10+ years relevant experience
- In-depth understanding of the commercial industry, business development techniques, and credit decisions
- Proven business development track record and ability to conceptualize and implement effective new business strategies
- Extensive network of outside referral sources for new business
- Excellent credit and financial analysis skills
- Effective negotiation skills
- Experience serving commercial businesses with annual revenues up to $250MM (preferred)
- Established COI network within the Commercial Business GAR segment (preferred)
- Ability to assess credit risk, structure credit deals, and contribute to credit applications
- Ability to comply with Bank and industry Code of Conduct and applicable regulatory requirements
