About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop, maintain, govern, and continuously enhance the Bank's Financial Crime Risk Management control frameworks, operating models, regulatory response activities, and oversight programs
  • Provide enterprise-wide subject matter expertise and independent challenge across AML, ATF, Sanctions, ABAC, KYC, and related compliance programs
  • Partner with first line business teams, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Risk Management, and executive management
  • Lead complex regulatory remediation initiatives, governance frameworks, operating model enhancements, control inventories, management reporting, and oversight activities
  • Provide independent review of program effectiveness, control design, risk mitigation, and issue remediation
  • Hire, lead, coach, develop, and manage a high-performing oversight team
  • Oversee AML/ATF/Sanctions/ABAC programs for complex TD businesses and legal entities
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance on complex compliance program activities and regulatory or policy changes
  • Develop and implement compliance programs, policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and business plans
  • Prepare executive, Board, Committee, and regulatory materials, governance reporting, risk assessments, staffing assessments, and program effectiveness evaluations
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory examinations and internal/external audits
  • Liaise with regulatory and law enforcement agencies on examinations and related inquiries
  • Identify, manage, and escalate financial crime and compliance risks
  • Maintain management reporting and analysis
  • Lead enterprise-wide and customer-focused special projects
  • Establish team objectives, monitor performance, provide feedback, and manage employee development and performance processes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Deep knowledge of BSA/AML, OFAC, Sanctions, ABAC, and Financial Crime Risk Management regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Experience leading regulatory remediation programs, consent order commitments, enforcement action responses, and large-scale program transformation initiatives
  • Experience preparing executive, Board, Committee, and regulatory materials
  • Experience with governance reporting, risk assessments, staffing assessments, and program effectiveness evaluations
  • Strong understanding of AML and sanctions control frameworks, including KYC (CIP, CDD, EDD), transaction monitoring, investigations, screening, and regulatory reporting
  • Ability to provide effective second line challenge and credible oversight across all three lines of defense
  • Experience interacting directly with regulators, monitors, Internal Audit, and senior executive management
  • Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from design through execution
  • Ability to translate regulatory expectations into governance frameworks, operating models, controls, and sustainable business processes
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop regulator-ready, Board-ready, and executive-level communications
