About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review, assess, analyze, and evaluate detailed medical and non-medical risks
- Determine mortality ratings and make substantiated logical final decisions
- Communicate/negotiate with reinsurers for final decisions and applicable ratings
- Provide support to the claims department and handle claim referrals
- Communicate underwriting decisions and detailed explanations of adverse handlings to clients and attending physicians
- Ensure applications are underwritten and processed as per TD’s underwriting guidelines
- Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other departments
- Monitor and maintain service and production standards for the department
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 2+ years insurance underwriting experience and/or degree/diploma in Health Sciences
- Written and verbal proficiency in ENG/FR
- Working toward AALU ALMI designations, industry related courses and/or accreditations (LOMA/ALU) is a nice to have
