About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review, assess, analyze, and evaluate detailed medical and non-medical risks
  • Determine mortality ratings and make substantiated logical final decisions
  • Communicate/negotiate with reinsurers for final decisions and applicable ratings
  • Provide support to the claims department and handle claim referrals
  • Communicate underwriting decisions and detailed explanations of adverse handlings to clients and attending physicians
  • Ensure applications are underwritten and processed as per TD’s underwriting guidelines
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other departments
  • Monitor and maintain service and production standards for the department

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 2+ years insurance underwriting experience and/or degree/diploma in Health Sciences
  • Written and verbal proficiency in ENG/FR
  • Working toward AALU ALMI designations, industry related courses and/or accreditations (LOMA/ALU) is a nice to have
