About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead development projects from design through delivery
Provide day-to-day technical leadership, mentoring, and escalation support
Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards
Assign development tasks and guide implementation approaches
Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, production issues, and performance bottlenecks
Maintain, enhance, and debug VB.NET applications while driving C# modernization
Lead refactoring efforts to reduce technical debt
Participate in application design, system architecture, and technical decision-making
Collaborate with QA, Business Analysts, Operations, and cross-functional teams
Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures
Analyze and resolve database performance issues
Design, implement, and support RESTful API and service-based integrations
Ensure application error handling, logging, and monitoring
Support release planning, deployment readiness, and post-release validation
Evaluate systems and recommend improvements to technology, tools, and processes

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of professional software development experience in an enterprise or production environment
Strong expertise in C#
Very strong working knowledge of VB.NET and legacy system support
Advanced SQL development experience, including complex queries, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
Hands-on experience with Git-based source control and Azure DevOps or TFS
Experience mentoring developers and guiding technical growth
Ability to lead technical discussions and make sound engineering decisions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality
Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work independently and contribute within a team environment
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
U.S. citizenship required due to federal background check and FISMA requirements
Experience with RESTful APIs preferred
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms preferred
Exposure to Agile or hybrid methodologies preferred
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployment processes preferred
Understanding of secure coding practices and compliance considerations preferred
