About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development projects from design through delivery
- Provide day-to-day technical leadership, mentoring, and escalation support
- Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards
- Assign development tasks and guide implementation approaches
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges, production issues, and performance bottlenecks
- Maintain, enhance, and debug VB.NET applications while driving C# modernization
- Lead refactoring efforts to reduce technical debt
- Participate in application design, system architecture, and technical decision-making
- Collaborate with QA, Business Analysts, Operations, and cross-functional teams
- Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures
- Analyze and resolve database performance issues
- Design, implement, and support RESTful API and service-based integrations
- Ensure application error handling, logging, and monitoring
- Support release planning, deployment readiness, and post-release validation
- Evaluate systems and recommend improvements to technology, tools, and processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of professional software development experience in an enterprise or production environment
- Strong expertise in C#
- Very strong working knowledge of VB.NET and legacy system support
- Advanced SQL development experience, including complex queries, stored procedures, indexing strategies, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with Git-based source control and Azure DevOps or TFS
- Experience mentoring developers and guiding technical growth
- Ability to lead technical discussions and make sound engineering decisions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and contribute within a team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- U.S. citizenship required due to federal background check and FISMA requirements
- Experience with RESTful APIs preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms preferred
- Exposure to Agile or hybrid methodologies preferred
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, and deployment processes preferred
- Understanding of secure coding practices and compliance considerations preferred
