About the role
- The selected Sr. Principal Systems Engineer responsibilities will include the support of the Ground Weapons System (GWS) program as both Product Owner and contributor on the Systems Engineering Team for the Ground Fire Control (GFC) product.
- This role is responsible for developing and assisting in the requirements process that directly supports the design and development of GWS capabilities on behalf of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
- This programs expectation of a Product Owner includes being responsible for the teams roadmap, the vision of the teams products, the estimation of work required to complete capabilities, the planning of the work for the team, producing the metrics that show the teams progress and briefing those metrics to program leadership.
- These responsibilities will be ~25% of the role, with the remaining ~75% of workload providing technical contributions for the Systems Engineering team for the product.
- The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/teams comprised of all experience levels.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD in STEM.
- Must have a solid understanding of system engineering processes and principles, along with proven experience in applying them to develop product solutions.
- Must have experience with SW development and the verification of requirements.
- Must have experience with DOORS, Cameo, and MBSE.
- Previous experience working on a large-scale missile defense system like GMD.
- Applicants must demonstrate the ability to think critically and capture concepts in work products, presentations, and discussions.
- Previous experience as a Product Owner or leading a technical team of 5 or more employees.
- Experience in estimating, planning, and scheduling software development work for a technical team.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs.
