About the role
- Providing support and assistance to patent attorneys in the Intellectual Property Department
- Helping manage the department’s caseload of private clients while meeting the unique needs of each attorney
- Accurately completing work assigned by multiple attorneys
- Assisting with the preparation of provisional, non-provisional and design patent applications
- Filing applications in the US Patent and Trademark Office and WIPO
- Preparing and filing responses to Office Actions, assignments, and other documents with the USPTO
- Preparing documentation for filing patent applications in other countries
- Working with the attorneys to ensure all due dates are met in advance
- Establishing and maintaining electronic files according to current firm policies
- Complies with and understands Firm operation, policies, and procedures
- Performing other related duties as assigned or needed
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- 4 years College degree preferred
- 5 years of patent prosecution experience
- Demonstrates an in-depth understanding and advanced proficiency of task-specific patent prosecution concepts, procedures, and best practices
- Knowledge of trademark filing procedures in the US Patent and Trademark Office is a plus
- Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, analytical, planning, and proofreading skills
- Detail-oriented, efficient, and reliable
- Maintains a “can do” attitude, patience, and a positive team player mentality
- Ability to work both independently, with a team, and in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple projects and shift priorities simultaneously
- Works effectively with various types of clients
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams; iManage, and Adobe
