About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide administrative and litigation support to the Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel and General Counsel
- Draft routine letters, notices, pleadings, discovery, affidavits, orders, and other legal documents
- Proofread and edit legal documents and written materials for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain the legal calendaring system and ensure compliance with legal deadlines
- Coordinate gathering information, materials, documents, reports, and evidence for discovery responses
- Make independent decisions and recommendations to supervising attorneys
- Correspond with internal clients, court personnel, local or outside counsel, and opposing counsel
- Answer questions about lease provisions for company departments
- Research business and legal issues for leasing representatives
- Apply state and federal court process and procedure to litigation
- Participate in legal/litigation, legal/leasing, and department meetings
- Review and update status reports
- Perform special projects and other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or a Paralegal Certification
- Minimum of five (5) plus years of experience working on litigation cases
- Extensive contract knowledge
- Familiarity with real estate law and civil litigation
- Familiarity with docket systems such as PACER
- Knowledge of civil and local procedure, case deadlines and calendaring, and interaction with court office administration
- Excellent organizational skills
- Absolute confidentiality, good judgment, strong organization, and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Ability to work closely with a legal team
- Understanding of basic contract and leasing principles and law
- Understanding of state and federal process and procedure
- Proficient drafting skills
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English
