About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll for approximately 2300 employees in a multi-state environment using Workday
  • Manage Payroll Inbox and Workday Help
  • Maintain confidentiality and provide high level customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Audit payroll before and after submission by pulling reports and using formulas to reconcile data
  • Review time cards for hourly employees
  • Prepare final and manual checks for employees as needed
  • Accurately update, upload, and maintain employee records according to submitted action forms
  • Understand company policies on various payroll-related topics
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
  • Process all Verification of Employment paperwork for employees
  • Monitor incoming payroll emails and respond or forward to appropriate department
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures for the payroll department
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations
  • Uphold standards of trust and integrity due to access to sensitive information.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.S. degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or other relevant discipline or equivalent combination of applicable job experience preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in payroll processing; preferably in a mid-size multi-state organization
  • Familiarity with identifying and applying state-specific payroll requirements
  • Outsourced payroll service experience with Workday (specifically with time cards, absence, Workday Help, and off cycle payments)
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and pivot tables
  • Skilled at clearly conveying payroll knowledge to all levels within, and outside of, the organization
  • Organized with high attention to detail.
