About the role

  • Oversee financial strategy, planning, and decision-making to support business growth and long-term value creation.
  • Manage the relationship with the outsourced finance provider, ensuring quality, accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of deliverables (accounting, payroll, reporting, etc.).
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and performance tracking; deliver actionable insights to the leadership team and Board.
  • Lead all financial aspects of acquisitions and investments, including strategic analysis, due diligence oversight, valuation, and deal structuring.
  • Ensure strong governance, internal controls, and compliance with both UK and US accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as the key financial partner to the CEO, leadership team, Board, and investors, communicating financial performance and strategy.
  • Oversee working capital, liquidity, funding needs, and capital structure to position the business for growth and resilience.
  • Build and manage an internal finance capability over time, mentoring junior staff or managing future in-house hires.

Requirements

  • Experience at Director or senior finance leadership level, ideally within a high-growth or entrepreneurial business environment.
  • Prior responsibility for managing outsourced finance providers or hybrid finance functions.
  • Strong capability in budgeting, forecasting, and delivering strategic insights for business decision-making (FP&A background).
  • Proven track record in leading and executing M&A deals, including due diligence and post-merger integration.
  • Direct exposure to both UK and US financial operations (tax, reporting, compliance, and investor relations).
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards, corporate finance, and financial modelling.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting at Board level and managing investor relations.
  • Ability to scale financial processes and systems in line with rapid business growth (change leadership).
  • Preferred professional qualifications: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (but not essential if experience demonstrates equivalent capability).
  • Commercially minded, detail-oriented, pragmatic, and collaborative, with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.
