About the role

  • Proactively identify and develop new U.S. Federal business opportunities across assigned agencies and mission areas.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with government customers, integrators, and partners.
  • Drive opportunity shaping from early engagement through capture and proposal phases.
  • Qualify opportunities based on customer need, budget, timeline, and organizational fit.
  • Establish and maintain a visible presence with key government stakeholders in the DC area and surrounding federal ecosystem.
  • Arrange and lead customer meetings, technical briefings, and exploratory discussions.
  • Attend relevant federal events, conferences, and industry days to build network and market visibility.
  • Work closely with capture managers, solution architects, and proposal teams to shape compelling solutions.
  • Support capture plans, win strategies, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Contribute to proposal development with customer intelligence, competitive insight, and positioning.
  • Provide structured feedback on customer needs, acquisition plans, and emerging priorities.
  • Monitor competitor activity within assigned accounts/agencies.
  • Support the Director of Federal BD in refining federal growth strategy and account plans.
  • Own and manage a portfolio of federal opportunities through the BD lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate and high-quality CRM records of activity, contacts, and pipeline status.
  • Report on pipeline progress, risks, and forecasted revenue.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, capture, or sales.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Federal procurement processes and acquisition lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated success developing pipelines and progressing opportunities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a high-trust, high-autonomy role.
  • Experience in defence, intelligence, homeland security, or federal technology solutions.
  • Experience supporting or leading capture efforts for complex federal contracts.
  • Existing network across key federal departments or agencies.
  • Understanding of cleared environments / sensitive programmes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (or currently hold one) may be required depending on client portfolio.
