About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support and maintain the Customer/1 CIS application
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in COBOL, batch jobs, and related components
Analyze billing, metering, payments, collections, and customer workflows
Implement small enhancements, fixes, and logic updates
Work with business users to understand issues and translate them into technical solutions
Ensure system stability, data integrity, and accurate billing operations
Participate in on-call or after-hours support rotations (if required)

Requirements

What you’ll need

Hands-on experience with Customer/1 (C/1) — required
Strong COBOL programming and maintenance skills
Experience supporting CIS systems in utilities (electric, gas, water)
Understanding of billing cycles, meter reads, payments, adjustments, and customer account logic
Ability to troubleshoot complex legacy code and batch processes
Strong analytical skills and comfort working independently
Bonus: experience with mainframe environments, JCL, DB2, or related legacy tech.
