About the role

  • Acts as senior technical SME for DM SAS programming, including advanced SAS macro development and optimization.
  • Designs, develops, validates, and maintains complex SAS programs and reusable macro frameworks.
  • Provides advanced troubleshooting for SAS macro-related issues, including root cause analysis and long-term remediation.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of SAS Azure cloud model and supports cloud-based programming environments.
  • Provides program-level oversight across multiple studies or large, complex programs.
  • Serves as Lead Clinical Programmer or Program Programming Lead as required.
  • Reviews and ensures quality, compliance, and consistency of multi-study and program-level deliverables.
  • Supports project planning, resource forecasting, bid defenses, and change order assessments.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of SAS Viya and its application in clinical programming workflows.
  • Leads or contributes to process improvement, automation, and code standardization initiatives.
  • Mentors, coaches, and provides technical guidance to Principal, Lead, and Senior Clinical Programmers.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders and represents Clinical Programming during audits and inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 8 to 10+ years of progressive experience in Clinical Programming / DM SAS.
  • Demonstrated experience in project-level or program-level oversight roles.
  • Advanced SAS macro development expertise.
  • SAS code optimization and performance tuning.
  • Understanding of SAS Azure cloud model.
  • Advanced troubleshooting competency for SAS macro and programming issues.
  • SAS Viya understanding and exposure.
  • Lead Clinical Programmer or Program Programming Lead experience.
