About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and deploy edge-native software components for decentralized operation, sensing, and control
- Develop federated data pipelines that allow distributed nodes to collaborate securely without central coordination
- Integrate field data sources (SCADA, PMUs, DER controllers) and industrial IoT protocols (LoRa, MQTT, DNP3, Modbus)
- Develop and deploy robust virtual sensing algorithms to infer critical power grid parameters from limited edge sensor data
- Deploy adaptive edge intelligence and control logic to enable real-time grid insights with minimal latency
- Collaborate with power systems engineers to validate virtual sensor performance against physical models and real-world field data
- Bridge the gap between simulation environments and live grid operations to 'close the loop'
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities, federated control frameworks, and digital twins into next-generation grid platforms
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of experience
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust (backend/edge) and TypeScript/React or Angular (UI)
- Deep experience with Kubernetes/K3s, Kafka/NATS, MQTT, gRPC, and Pulsar
- Hands-on experience with InfluxDB/TimescaleDB and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Proven experience with federated architectures, resilient edge software, and Transmission & Distribution (T&D) applications
- Strong understanding of signal processing, control theory, and state estimation methods
- Experience developing and deploying AI/ML models in production environments
