Control and Protection Engineer
Switzerland Global EnterpriseEngineer – Control & Protection at GE Vernova designing and implementing relay systems for EHV/HV substations. Ensuring reliability and efficiency of power systems in global operations.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing protection relay systems for EHV/HV substations
- Ensure the reliability and efficiency of power systems
- Execute secondary engineering activities for EHV/HV Electrical Substations
- Work with GSI Global Engineering Center to coordinate with GSI Regions / Business Lines
- Provide technical leadership and interface with GSI Regions / GE Vernova Business Lines
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
- Document and communicate results of technical data generated
- Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology providing competitive advantage
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for assigned projects
- Perform studies on Electrical Power systems and load flow and short circuit studies
- Design and prepare scheme drawings using E-CAD Tool for up to 400/765kV Substations
- Design/review the Substation automation system based on IEC61850 standards
- Review BOQ and Architecture drawings of PLCC/FOTE engineering
- Perform/review the protection relay application / setting calculations and coordination
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s (or) master’s degree in electrical engineering
- 5+ years of experience in substation protection relay systems within EHV Electrical Substations, Oil & Gas or Power Transmission industries
- Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) environments with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of Secondary(CRP/SAS, Aux Systems, Telecom, Interface) engineering up to 765kV/400kV/220KV and HVDC Substations (AIS/GIS/SOLAR/WIND)
- Experience/Knowledge on Relay Testing, Equipment Testing, Control / Protection scheme testing & SAS Commissioning experience (min 1 year) shall be given additional weightage
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal , responsive and supervision skills
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs / projects
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
- Fluent in English; additional language (any foreign Language) is a plus
- Willingness to travel internationally as required
