About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives and FACTS
- Support customers with power systems engineering expertise; including modeling, analysis, equipment design and specification, and failure mode analysis
- Create, modify and parametrize simulation models representing GE Vernova inverter-based resource (IBR) products like wind turbines, solar and battery storage
- Evaluate grid code compliance standards and their impact on renewable energy projects in bulk power systems
- Support development of transmission and distribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) products for evolving codes and standards through participation in industry standards groups and leading innovative approaches to power system analysis
- Perform power system transient studies, and detailed equipment modeling using appropriate software tools
- Effectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparing detailed written reports and presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions
- Enhance industry knowledge and present technical content in regional forums and conferences; serve as a thought leader in industry activities
- Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are valued
- Willingness to travel for supporting project work, meeting team members, attending industry standard working group meetings and conferences (up to 10%)
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or related field of study – no industry experience is required with this qualification OR Master’s degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineering with 3 years of experience
- Minimum three (3) years of experience performing transient analysis using simulation tools like PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, PSS/E, PowerFactory or PSLF
- Minimum three (3) years of experience with the use and application of common programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN)
