About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead EMS Interface Manager leading all the EMS interfaces between different stakeholders for hyperscale Data center projects
- Independently perform in depth EMS system planning, design development, building, implementing and supporting commissioning for behind- the- meter power plant facilities ; and/or specify scope, review, comment, and direct/oversee 3rd party provider(s) for the studies below: Developing EMS requirements and scope of works
- EMS operation, monitoring and control philosophy
- EMS/Scada/BMS integration and Interfaces
- Black start philosophy
- Island mode operation
- Load Analysis / Load shedding and load sharing philosophy
- Contingency analysis
- Overall System Performance Assessment Study
- Power system studies
- Coordination with power system study teams to coordinate, review and analyze the power system studies (SC,load flow, Transient switching, Harmonic performance etc)
- Coordination with end users to understand load profiles and operation expectations
- Integration of dedicated studies for systems utilizing combined AC power sources; AC power sources include conventional generations, AC-BESS, turbines, Statcom and renewables.
- Provide technical guidance, manage Integration and all interfaces between stakeholders (Turbine manufacturers, BESS, end user etc) and supervise the third party EMS vendors’ design and implementation activities
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex system technical issues
- Produce detail technical specifications and factory acceptance test criteria for EMS/Scada
- Provides expertise and support in the development, implementation and optimization of energy management systems
- Excellent technical communication skills to provide guidance, analysis and reports in clear succinct manner to customers, project team and stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and coordinate the engineering tasks to meet the project/tender requirement.
- Support Project control teams during the development of EMS project schedule to cover design, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities
- Expertise in frequency and time-domain simulation tools, like PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, DigSilent PowerFactory, to perform system studies as detailed above or under desired characteristics section.
- Support vendor FAT activities, site installation and commissioning activities
- Be innovative, develop and industrialize solutions tools and processes associated with system studies.
- Value engineering (process improvement): review and record design processes and develop new or improved processes.
- Enforce engineering discipline and set processes across all work tasks and adherence to company policies, quality procedures and work instructions (e.g., through trainings, technical reviews).
- Represent the business in external events by publishing technical papers.
- Apply yourself towards improving your technical knowledge base and keep abreast of relevant methodologies and technological advancement within the company.
- Support and mentor other engineers to increase the team’s technical knowledge and competence.
- Report or resolve any non-conformances in a timely manner.
- Actively participate in defining corrective actions when work is unsafe or when an uncontrolled risk is observed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects with proven professional experience and technical expertise in the field of power system engineering and preferably in AC substations and power plant System Studies
- Proven record of EMS engineering design and implementation experience
- Minimum 6 years’ experience of network or transient studies for conventional electric-energy generation / FACTS / renewable energy / inverter-based power systems in offshore wind, industrial, utility substations and grid interconnects.
- Knowledge of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) compliance requirements and/or ISOs' interconnection or transmission planning guidelines.
- Familiarity with NERC standards such as TPL, MOD, and PRC.
- Able and willing to travel 20% including international and comply with GE travel guidelines.
