About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop and validate repair procedures meeting customer and business requirements
- Drive design decisions by clearly communicating the “unknowns”, associated risks and tradeoffs that are required to properly execute a safe and effective repair procedure
- Lead engineering efforts in the initial validation and beta period of tooling/process products by working with Deployment, Platform Leaders, Field Engineering, and EHS to complete and validate robust engineering processes
- Create and maintain project plans that are executed on time and with quality
- Develop, test and validate repair/replacement procedures through: model walk throughs, prototyping, freestanding components and complete wind turbine machine heads
- Identify and clearly communicate requirements for process specific tooling
- Own the design of innovative repair solutions and ensure adherence to engineering standards
- Follow and use the team’s Design Review Process, quality standards, best practices and systems to fully review and document repair procedures
- Maintain broad awareness of efforts within the group to assure lessons learned and responsiveness to customer/program needs
- Mentor younger engineers in the use of CAD modelling, FE analysis, drawing reviews, repair process creation, free body diagrams, and/or rigging plans and serve as an overall repair and installation expert
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics or related degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering or technical position
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical leadership or people management
- Ability and willingness to travel 10-20% of the time, which may include international travel
- Ability and willingness to climb wind turbines and work at heights
- Proficiency with English both written and oral communication
- Demonstrated ability to accommodate for fast pace projects and changes in work scopes.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
