About the role
- Define and communicate a clear vision for development and execution modernization aligned with HDNU business goals.
- Develop and execute a multi-year transformation roadmap for migrating legacy systems to modern platforms.
- Lead cross-functional teams (engineering, IT, operations, cybersecurity) through the transformation lifecycle, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business outcomes.
- Support day-to-day operations for a global organization of 240+ engineers.
- Establish and maintain operational infrastructure, cadence, and actionable KPIs/metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) to drive performance and accountability.
- Conduct Monthly Operating Reviews to assess internal process performance and support strategic operations.
- Act as a change agent to drive cultural and operational shifts required for digital and lean transformation.
- Promote a culture of Lean Thinking, Servant Leadership, Customer Focus, and Employee Empowerment across the Controls Engineering organization.
- Engage stakeholders at all levels to build buy-in and reduce resistance to change.
- Oversee the selection, integration, and deployment of next-generation DCS platforms that are scalable, secure, and compliant.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase system reliability, efficiency, and maintainability.
- Leverage data analytics and automation to enhance decision-making and performance.
- Establish governance structures to manage scope, budget, and timelines for transformation and operational initiatives.
- Drive the budgeting process for HDNU Controls Engineering, including labor and SW&L funding.
- Mitigate risks related to system downtime, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
- Upskill teams on new technologies, lean methodologies, and problem-solving tools.
- Enable and empower engineering resources to identify and act on Lean opportunities to drive simplification and efficiency.
- Celebrate and share successful applications of Lean principles across the organization.
- Define and track KPIs and success metrics for both transformation and operational initiatives.
- Analyze performance data to determine action plans and process improvement needs.
- Coordinate Kaizens and Lean projects to align with Controls Engineering priorities and enhance efficiency, capacity, and reliability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in any combination of managing programs/projects, power plant design engineering or driving continuous improvement initiatives.
