About the role

  • Implement, plan, manage, and establish project engineering processes in compliance with corporate and contractual requirements
  • Lead the development and coordination of engineering and design for assigned projects
  • Provide overall project leadership and mentoring to other engineers
  • Articulate the work plan for mechanical and civil engineering disciplines
  • Develop and maintain project schedules with project managers
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and regulatory criteria
  • Establish best practices within the team
  • Effectively communicate engineering and project priorities to team and stakeholders
  • Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical and/or civil engineering project management, design, or operation
  • Knowledge of mechanical and civil engineering business products, business processes, customers, and competitive environment
  • Demonstrated ability in meeting project budget, schedule, and quality commitments in mechanical and civil engineering projects
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience working with Government contracts and contracting requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Experience in boiling water or advanced reactors and/or equivalent technical environment, with a focus on mechanical and civil engineering aspects
  • Prior experience working with architect engineers/subcontractors on mechanical and civil engineering projects
  • IT/Computer competency
  • Proven ability to think strategically, be creative, and move quickly
  • Established credibility with peers and managers based on experience in mechanical and civil engineering
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems specific to mechanical and civil engineering
  • Primavera project scheduling tool experience
  • Graduate of GE leadership program (PMLP, JOLP, or similar)
  • Six Sigma training (BB, DFSS, etc.) (GE Employees only).
