About the role
- Implement, plan, manage, and establish project engineering processes in compliance with corporate and contractual requirements
- Lead the development and coordination of engineering and design for assigned projects
- Provide overall project leadership and mentoring to other engineers
- Articulate the work plan for mechanical and civil engineering disciplines
- Develop and maintain project schedules with project managers
- Ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and regulatory criteria
- Establish best practices within the team
- Effectively communicate engineering and project priorities to team and stakeholders
- Meet customer commitments and drive continuous improvement
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical and/or civil engineering project management, design, or operation
- Knowledge of mechanical and civil engineering business products, business processes, customers, and competitive environment
- Demonstrated ability in meeting project budget, schedule, and quality commitments in mechanical and civil engineering projects
- Excellent leadership, influencing, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience working with Government contracts and contracting requirements
- Ability and willingness to travel
- Experience in boiling water or advanced reactors and/or equivalent technical environment, with a focus on mechanical and civil engineering aspects
- Prior experience working with architect engineers/subcontractors on mechanical and civil engineering projects
- IT/Computer competency
- Proven ability to think strategically, be creative, and move quickly
- Established credibility with peers and managers based on experience in mechanical and civil engineering
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems specific to mechanical and civil engineering
- Primavera project scheduling tool experience
- Graduate of GE leadership program (PMLP, JOLP, or similar)
- Six Sigma training (BB, DFSS, etc.) (GE Employees only).
