About the role
- Lead the completion of various technical licensing work scopes in the United States, including new reactor licensing for the Natrium and BWRX-300 Advanced Nuclear Projects
- Prepare, coordinate, and implement limitations and conditions for U.S. Licensing Topical Reports (LTRs) in support of new reactor licensing, including preparation of responses to customer and regulator questions
- Prepare licensing basis documentation in support of customer licensing applications in the U.S. for new reactor construction and operations, including Preliminary Safety Analysis Reports (PSARs), Final Safety Analysis Reports (FSARs), Technical Specifications, Technical Specification Bases, and Availability Controls Manuals
- Prepare licensing basis documentation and reports supporting customer License Amendment Request (LAR) and Exemption applications, including Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) markups and revisions and Technical Specifications changes
- Support customer requests for preparation or review of unreviewed safety question determinations, including preparation of Technical Safety Evaluation Reports and working with internal teams coordinating licensing status of various fuel design changes and fuel and reactor methods changes
- Interface with customers and regulatory personnel on regulatory issues, and to secure applicable permissions and approvals related to work scopes
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college (OR Master's Degree in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5 years of related professional work experience)
- Minimum of 7 years of related professional work experience including: 4 years of commercial operating or new proposed nuclear power plant technical experience, 1 year of experience leading complex projects, and providing guidance / direction to contributing functions (i.e., Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Analysis)
- Technical knowledge in new nuclear plant design and/or licensing including knowledge of requirements under 10CFR50 and 10CFR52
- Technical knowledge of one or more areas, such as nuclear fuel, operating plants, deterministic safety analyses, probabilistic safety assessments, etc.
- Working knowledge of advanced Small Modular Reactor non-light water reactor systems, fuel, or operations
- Experience and demonstrated effectiveness in working / communicating with regulatory and customer personnel
- Experience working with industry groups (i.e., NEI and Owners Groups) on nuclear licensing matters
- International licensing and/or technical nuclear power plant experience
- Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to create technical reports suitable for a wide range of audiences
- Effective interpersonal and facilitation skills
- Process skills related to coordinating and documenting complex technical documents
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
