About the role

  • Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses in the areas of ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses
  • General expertise in two-phase thermal hydraulic analysis techniques
  • Take responsibility for fuel project activities including reload analyses, methods implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues
  • Perform in cross-disciplinary settings, engaged with interfacing teams responsible for mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, or other affiliated organizations to find optimum customer solutions
  • Prepare, document and present technical data to internal/external customers
  • Provide technical mentoring to support team development and knowledge management, including procedure development and adherence
  • Develop/deliver training course offerings in support of external commercial requests, as well as for internal audiences for knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer
  • Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification
  • Ensure work is performed with high quality in accordance with regulatory rules and regulations, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in T-H Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis
  • Experience in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses
  • M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T/H modeling as applied to nuclear reactor systems (desired)
  • Experience with BWR technology ECCS LOCA and Containment analysis to support applicable regulatory requirements (desired)
  • Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements (desired)
  • Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP & TRACE (desired)
  • Experience in Best Estimate methodology development (e.g., TRACG LOCA) (desired)
  • Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications (desired)
  • Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON (desired)
