About the role
- provide technical guidance and leadership on optimized layout & arrangement of Mechanical Plant Systems and Components within the Turbine Island (TI) and Balance of Plant (BOP)
- evaluate plant layout equipment & components for adequate accessibility for maintenance and inspection
- perform systematic plant layout reviews to ensure design requirements for HVAC & Fire Protection are implemented
- support potential new NPP customers with Power Block Plot Plan, including layout of interconnections with Switchyard, Service Water & Closed Cooling Water Systems
- interface with Plant & System Design teams to establish design requirements into the Plant Layout & 3D BIM Model
- perform reviews of Plant & System Level design documents to ensure 3D Model implementation of design criteria & requirements
- plan, develop and drive technical initiatives and processes to populate the 3D Model with preliminary design information that alleviates potential future fabrication and construction non-conformances
- sharing knowledge in best practices of drafting techniques and 3D parametric modeling as a resource for colleagues with less experience
- may lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements
Requirements
- Associates in engineering, designing or closely related field OR 10+ years of experience designing and drafting in heavy industrial, thermal power, or nuclear industry or similar industries
- 6 years of experience using design tools such as Autodesk (Inventor / AutoCAD / Vault) or equivalent CAD software
- advanced mechanical/mechanism design experience
- ability to create drafting details from 2D, and 3D AutoCAD, and Parametric Solid Inventor data bases
- functional knowledge of ASME/ANSI 14.5M, geometric tolerancing and other drafting standards
- understanding of manufacturing processes, fits, and fundamental principles of design
- experience interfacing with machine and fabrication shops, and parts procurement and testing
- self-starter with energy, positive “Can-Do” attitude, and inclusive style
- proven track record of delivering on commitments, producing quality product within schedule in a fast paced and matrixed environment with multiple assignments and priorities
- experience using communication tools and Office Suites of tools (i.e. Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
