About the role
- Execute maintenance procedures for utility-scale BESS systems, including battery management systems (BMS), inverters, switchgear, and SCADA interfaces.
- Perform OEM derived maintenance of all system components according to OEM, manuals
- Conduct point-to-point checks, insulation resistance tests, as required.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to electrical, control, and communication systems.
- Document maintenance results, prepare reports, and maintain logs of issues and resolutions.
- Coordinate with lead commissioning engineer, project managers, subcontractors.
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Perform administrative functions; such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, reports to customers, time sheets, and expense sheets on a complete timely, and thorough basis
- Be knowledgeable of and conduct work activities in compliance with the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies
- Exercise good judgment in controlling costs and expenditures of Company funds
- Responsible for troubleshooting, and ensuring projects meet performance and safety standards
- Protect the Company's capital investments and Intellectual Property by properly safeguarding and maintaining equipment for which responsible
- Make contributions to the continued development and refinement of SSS Engineering Standards and Procedures (incl. Method Statements, Risk Assessments etc)
Requirements
- HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Previous experience of field service experience in utility-scale renewable energy or electrical installation projects
- Experience with BESS technologies, PCS (power conversion systems), and SCADA/PLC systems preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel frequently and work at remote project sites for extended durations
- Technical skills with hands-on experience with electrical systems, energy storage technologies, and a solid understanding of commissioning protocols
- HV competencies
- Experienced with “Simplicity” S/W
- Ability to build strong customer relationships
- Solid business and finance acumen and ability to sell GEV value to the customer
- Computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Lean principles experience
- Customer Service orientation, demonstrated track record of execution and results
- Pro-active approach to problem solving and issue resolution
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with multiple & competing priorities in a fast paced environment and work effectively across organizations and countries
- High energy, self-starter, ability to achieve results with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills
- You must have or be able to obtain a passport and driver's license.
- You must be willing to travel.
