About the role

  • As a Lead Licensing Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Polish and international nuclear safety regulations related to accident analysis and licensing for GEH reactors in Poland.
  • You will interact with the National Atomic Energy Agency (Państwowa Agencja Atomistyki, PAA), customers, and industry stakeholders to support licensing applications, regulatory reviews, and the development of safety cases for nuclear power plants.
  • Support the Polish Licensing Manager, Regulatory Affairs, in activities related to compliance with the Polish Atomic Law Act of November 29, 2000, and other applicable national and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Assist in preparing and reviewing licensing application materials, including regulatory reports, technical inputs, and draft responses to customer or regulatory inquiries.
  • Help ensure project alignment with relevant Polish, U.S., and international nuclear regulatory guidance, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Provide regulatory and technical support to internal engineering and project teams and assist in coordination with GEH/GNF Regulatory Affairs groups in Poland, Canada, the U.S., and the U.K.
  • Participate in interactions with customers, regulatory authorities, contractors, and industry groups to support licensing activities.
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining nuclear safety case documentation, including supporting claims–arguments–evidence structures.
  • Assist with activities related to nuclear power plant siting, project development, and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related nuclear science/engineering discipline. Minimum of 3 years of experience in nuclear regulatory affairs, nuclear licensing, or related nuclear compliance activities.
  • Option 2: Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or a closely related nuclear science/engineering discipline. Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in nuclear regulatory affairs, nuclear licensing, or related nuclear compliance activities (industry, research, or internship experience acceptable).
  • Option 3: Doctoral (PhD) degree in Nuclear Engineering, Reactor Physics, Nuclear Safety analyses or a closely related nuclear field. Experience in nuclear regulatory affairs or licensing (industry, research, or internship experience acceptable).
  • Familiarity with Polish nuclear licensing requirements or prior exposure to nuclear regulatory processes.
  • Experience supporting licensing activities for nuclear projects in Poland, EU countries, the U.K., or Canada.
  • General understanding of GVH reactor technologies or interest in advanced reactor licensing frameworks.
  • Exposure to international nuclear regulatory guidance (IAEA, WENRA, WNA, etc.) through coursework, internships, or project work.
  • Experience contributing to regulatory affairs activities for nuclear or other highly regulated infrastructure projects.
  • Basic understanding of risk-informed approaches and defense-in-depth principles used in nuclear safety.
  • Legal authorization to work in Poland or willingness to relocate. Must be a citizen of Poland or a country authorized under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Part 810 Regulations.
