About the role
- Execute commissioning procedures for utility-scale BESS systems, including battery management systems (BMS), inverters, switchgear, and SCADA interfaces
- Perform pre-functional and functional testing of all system components according to commissioning plans
- Conduct point-to-point checks, insulation resistance tests, performance tests, and system startup
- Identify and troubleshoot issues related to electrical, control, and communication systems
- Document test results, prepare commissioning reports, and maintain logs of issues and resolutions
- Coordinate with lead commissioning engineer, project managers, subcontractors and help ensure project milestones are met
- Ensure all commissioning activities adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Support remote and onsite troubleshooting post-commissioning as required and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge
Requirements
- Minimum HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Previous experience of commissioning or field service experience in utility-scale renewable energy or electrical installation projects
- Experience with BESS technologies, PCS (power conversion systems), and SCADA/PLC systems preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel frequently and work at remote project sites for extended durations
