About the role

  • Contribute to a team responsible for new reactor/equipment development and existing fleet support
  • Create and develop design concepts
  • Provide procurement support
  • Generate drawings, CAD models, specifications, and design basis documentation as required
  • Perform component design related work as governed by ASME Section III codes and standards
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, and detailed design basis documentation for Nuclear component designs
  • Interface with project managers, project engineers, procurement, and other business functions and partners as needed
  • Understand component material selection & fabrication processes
  • Perform independent verification of design work ensuring strict procedure adherence
  • Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing to support cost reduction activities
  • Interface and collaborate effectively with internal engineering teams and external suppliers
  • Develop procedures and identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity
  • Work with technical leader to establish an effective work plan

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a mechanical design engineering environment
  • Nuclear Industry knowledge/experience
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Ability to perform complex engineering analyses resulting in thorough and complete documentation
  • Experience performing component design work to ASME Section III standards
  • BWR/PWR reactor/equipment design experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
  • Vibration analysis
  • Heat transfer
  • Finite Element Analysis
  • Statistics and drafting practices (including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and CAD)
