About the role
- Contribute to a team responsible for new reactor/equipment development and existing fleet support
- Create and develop design concepts
- Provide procurement support
- Generate drawings, CAD models, specifications, and design basis documentation as required
- Perform component design related work as governed by ASME Section III codes and standards
- Prepare drawings, specifications, and detailed design basis documentation for Nuclear component designs
- Interface with project managers, project engineers, procurement, and other business functions and partners as needed
- Understand component material selection & fabrication processes
- Perform independent verification of design work ensuring strict procedure adherence
- Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing to support cost reduction activities
- Interface and collaborate effectively with internal engineering teams and external suppliers
- Develop procedures and identify opportunities to improve engineering productivity
- Work with technical leader to establish an effective work plan
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a mechanical design engineering environment
- Nuclear Industry knowledge/experience
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Ability to perform complex engineering analyses resulting in thorough and complete documentation
- Experience performing component design work to ASME Section III standards
- BWR/PWR reactor/equipment design experience
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
- Vibration analysis
- Heat transfer
- Finite Element Analysis
- Statistics and drafting practices (including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and CAD)
