About the role
- Perform design, analyses and review of New Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) within a team environment
- Ensure compliance of the design with Canadian codes and regulations and the CNSC Regulatory requirements
- Execute the design/ analysis and reviews of Seismic Category I and Seismic Category II structures
- Perform structural engineering analysis, design and review of the static and dynamic analysis/qualification of nuclear power plant structures
- Coordinate design reviews between GE and local AE firms
- Perform structural analysis for reinforced concrete and steel framed structures for seismic, hydrodynamic, thermal, wind and tornado loads using ANSYS, SAP2000 or GT-STRUDL computer codes
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
- Support GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) quality requirements
- Provide on-time, quality delivery of engineering documentation in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering
- 0-3 years of experience in civil/structural design
- Working knowledge of ACI, ASCE and AWS codes and Standards
- Fundamental knowledge of TI and BOP systems analyses and design
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- PC proficiency
- Working knowledge of FEA computer software
