About the role
- Design and analyze structural systems for diverse projects from residential renovations to small commercial builds.
- Spend 20-40% of time in the field conducting structural inspections, foundation assessments, and forensic evaluations.
- Collaborate and communicate directly with architects, contractors, and clients to deliver solutions that meet tight deadlines.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents while ensuring compliance with building codes.
- Work on short timelines in a fast-paced environment and participate in both office and remote work as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
- Previous experience working as a structural engineer required.
- Design experience and residential structural experience preferred, but not required.
- Technical proficiency with Mathcad, Bluebeam, and Autodesk products (Revit/AutoCAD).
- Self-starter looking to grow with a small, ambitious engineering firm with advancement opportunities.
- Strong communicator who can discuss complex issues with diverse stakeholders and deliver both good and challenging news professionally.
- Willingness to perform field work (20-40% time) including structural inspections, foundation assessments, and forensic evaluations.
