About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • You will accompany the Swiss Army on its digital transformation journey.
  • The goal is to strengthen Switzerland's defense capability and leverage opportunities from technological progress.
  • As a Network Automation Architect, you are responsible for designing, developing and operating a secure, highly available and automated network infrastructure.
  • You ensure standardized, reproducible and secure operations across different environments and actively shape the network architecture of our private-cloud platform.
  • You implement project goals together with product owners, architects and development and operations teams, aligning architecture, operations, security and automation closely.
  • You continuously design, implement and evolve network architecture and infrastructure, including segmentation and security concepts for enterprise and data center environments.
  • You automate network and infrastructure services following the Infrastructure as Code principle, develop reusable modules and establish quality-assurance processes across all environments.
  • You ensure the quality, stability, performance and security of network services, improve monitoring, logging and incident handling, and document architecture, operations and runbooks clearly.
  • You evaluate new technologies for the private-cloud platform, plan feasibility studies and rollouts, and integrate solutions smoothly into existing systems.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Technical diploma (EFZ) with further education (FH/HF) in computer science is desirable, plus several years of experience in designing and operating enterprise and data center networks
  • Strong expertise in enterprise networking and routing, and in designing segmentation and security concepts; broad understanding of common network protocols and services
  • Hands-on experience with Linux as well as container platforms and orchestration, for example Kubernetes, and regular use of automation tools such as Ansible
  • Experience in network automation and scripting, in producing technical concepts and documentation, and in operating, troubleshooting and conducting feasibility studies for complex environments
  • You work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented way and remain calm in critical situations
  • Enjoy working with interdisciplinary teams, architects and interface partners
  • Open to working in a scaled agile environment and committed to continuous improvement
  • Very good German, spoken and written.
