About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate as a core member of joint working groups to support and advance SFLC strategic initiatives.
- Provide expert guidance, alignment, and seamless coordination across cross-functional teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
- Lead and manage diverse, matrixed project teams to achieve the core objectives of SFLC strategic projects and pilot programs.
- Utilize modern IT project management platforms (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence) to track progress and maintain visibility.
- Employ Agile project management methodologies to drive adaptable, efficient workflows.
- Develop comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, resource allocation, and robust risk management strategies.
- Facilitate stakeholder meetings, analyze and develop Courses of Action (COAs), prepare decision-maker artifacts, and navigate complex organizational processes.
- Oversee all operational actions required to ensure end-to-end project success and delivery.
- Draft and deliver executive-level reports across the project lifecycle, including a comprehensive final summary report upon project completion.
- Support the end-to-end development and execution of business process improvement and modernization initiatives within the Business Operations Division.
- Lead integrated project teams to define, document, and roll out modernization strategies and technical solutions.
- Develop, maintain, and execute Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M), ensuring alignment with strategic organizational goals.
- Devise innovative strategies to solve complex operational challenges.
- Drive project execution strictly against approved POA&Ms, ensuring on-time outcome delivery and adherence to high-quality standards.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong, demonstrated understanding of Coast Guard (CG) organizational structure, culture, and processes.
- Proven ability to operate independently with minimal guidance, taking full ownership of complex initiatives.
- Demonstrated expertise in Agile project management practices.
- Hands-on proficiency with modern project management toolsets (Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
- Background in developing and maintaining implementation plans, POA&Ms, risk matrices, and decision artifacts.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; expert ability to prepare executive-level reports and decision briefs.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills across matrixed, cross-functional environments.
