About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support operations and preconstruction teams in one or more regions
  • Lead and manage certain team members in the Swinerton Incorporated Risk Management department
  • Support division teams with Owner contract and Master Subcontract review, analysis, guidance, and pricing of project-specific policies
  • Support project participation in corporate insurance programs
  • Assist the Director with management of corporate bonding and insurance programs
  • Evaluate and select brokers and carriers and negotiate insurance policies
  • Review OCIP program information and assist division teams with pricing and participation
  • Develop and lead trainings for operations and estimating teams on risk, insurance, bonds, and claims
  • Analyze and classify risks according to frequency and potential severity and measure financial impact
  • Evaluate and select loss-minimization techniques such as risk retention and risk transfer
  • Oversee insurance-related claims management and litigation management issues
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B.A. or B.S. Degree
  • Minimum 10 years business experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the construction or insurance industry
  • Ability to read contracts and provide analysis, comments, and potential changed language regarding insurance, bonding, indemnity, and related matters
  • Strong understanding of property, casualty, and indemnity insurance policies
  • Ability to analyze, act on, comment on, and communicate issues with insurance policies in writing and verbally
  • Ability to assist estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams with insurance requirements in requests for proposals/qualifications, bids, and contracts
  • Ability to analyze project-specific coverage options and assist with underwriting information, broker submissions, and presentation of coverage options, pricing, and terms
  • Strong understanding of bonds and ability to explain guarantees and trigger issues
  • Strong insurance claims management experience
  • Effective team and coaching leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and presentation skills
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Takes initiative and finds solutions to potential problems
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Ability to travel
