About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first point of contact for patients entering the outpatient medical facility
- Greet and check in patients
- Verify patient information
- Schedule appointments
- Update electronic health records (EHR)
- Facilitate intake procedures, including completion of healthcare and insurance forms
- Collect payments for services
- Gain patient, family/support group, and healthcare provider confidence and cooperation through competent performance and effective communication
- Adhere to organizational and local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures
- Protect patient privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care
- Perform specific departmental tasks as needed
- Orient other staff to the department as needed
- Travel as needed between Modesto and Turlock locations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent education/experience
- Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- 1 year of recent relevant experience
- Basic knowledge of insurance policies and procedures
- Basic knowledge of patient billing
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines within standardized policies and procedures
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to accomplish multiple tasks in an interruption-prone environment
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
- Ability to ensure privacy of patients' Protected Health Information (PHI)
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and staff members
- Ability to travel as needed between Modesto and Turlock locations
