About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assign ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT procedure codes for outpatient specialty services
- Abstract data elements according to defined standards and regulatory requirements
- Identify incomplete or missing documentation and escalate for resolution
- Ensure codes reflect the highest specificity supported by provider documentation
- Resolve billing edits and claim denials
- Communicate coding-related problems affecting timely claim completion
- Complete coding duties supporting Coding Operations and Service Level Agreements
- Meet or exceed productivity and quality standards
- Maintain required credentials and memberships
Requirements
What you’ll need- Resident of California, Nevada, or Texas
- HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience; equivalent experience accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma
- CCS-Certified Coding Specialist required upon hire
- ROCC certified: Radiation Oncology Certified Coder
- 1 year recent relevant experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, patient health record content, and medical record coding
- Knowledge of computer-based encoder systems and accurate data entry
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
- Familiarity with billing functions and charge description master components
- General knowledge of Revenue Cycle applications, including Electronic Health Record systems
- Familiarity with coding functions in acute and non-acute settings
- Knowledge of Patient Management information system applications
- Ability to use spreadsheet, word processing, statistical, project management, and presentation software, preferably Microsoft Suite
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
