About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clinical and clerical support to providers and patient care teams
  • Perform back-office and patient-related tasks supporting high-quality patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of a course of study meeting Medical Board of California requirements for Medical Assistants, with diploma presented within 90 days, OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job medical-assisting training equivalent to one year
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competence and validation in basic Medical Assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills for explaining sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time-management and organizational skills, including prioritizing assignments and meeting deadlines
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an interruption-filled environment
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and healthcare providers
  • Ability to handle hazardous drugs in accordance with NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines
