Key responsibilities & impact

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of a course of study meeting California Medical Board requirements for Medical Assistants, with diploma presented within 90 days, OR completion of Sutter Health on-the-job medical assisting training equivalent to one year
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience
  • General knowledge of medical procedures, views, and equipment
  • Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
  • Competency and validation in basic medical assisting skills, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, and administering injections
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule-based data and instructions
  • Written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences
  • Time management and organizational skills, including prioritization and deadline management
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple interrupted tasks
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems using established solutions
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with peers and healthcare providers
