Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent education/experience
  • Graduation from a certified school of ultrasound
  • ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
  • 2 years related experience and/or training
  • Competence in all areas of ultrasound positioning
  • Knowledge of physiology procedure preparation and technical factors
  • Ability to operate all ultrasound equipment and modify technical factors as needed
  • Good patient rapport via effective communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
