About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administers end-to-end retirement plan operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant execution of all plan processes, including eligibility, contributions, distributions, reporting, and recordkeeping integrity.
  • Primary resource for NDT and audits.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations governing qualified retirement plans, including ERISA, IRS, and DOL requirements, and implements regulatory updates into plan operations and documentation.
  • Serves as program owner for retirement plans, providing overall governance, operational oversight, and alignment with organizational strategy and plan design intent.
  • Partners with external vendors, including recordkeepers, and consultants, to ensure effective service delivery, issue resolution, and ongoing performance management.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders including but not limited to HR and Payroll to ensure accurate data exchange, consistent processes, and effective retirement plan administration.
  • Leads retirement plan design changes, system enhancements, and implementation initiatives, ensuring successful execution and clear cross-functional communication.
  • Manages retirement governance activities, including committee support, reporting, documentation, and preparation of materials to support decision-making and oversight.
  • Serves as escalation point for complex participant issues and drives continuous improvement efforts, including process optimization, communication support, and moderately complex retirement-related projects.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience and/or training may be considered.
  • 4–7 years of experience in retirement plan administration.
  • Certifications preferred: ASPPA, CEBS, ERPA
  • Comprehensive knowledge of qualified and nonqualified retirement plan administration, including 401(k) structures and related regulatory frameworks (ERISA, IRS, DOL).
  • Strong understanding of retirement plan compliance, governance, fiduciary principles, and operational risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret plan data and resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to manage vendors and coordinate external retirement service providers.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently manage a complex retirement program and drive process improvements.
