About the role
- Performs all managerial responsibilities for the manufacturing engineering and maintenance teams
- Focus on extrusion process and equipment acquisition, facilities maintenance, tooling repair and administration
- New product introduction and capital investment projects
- Ensure safety, quality and production standards are met or exceeded and Lean principles are applied
- Partner with leadership to develop and implement long-range plans for capital equipment and engineering resources
- Promote continuous improvement across three extrusion sites
- Replace obsolete equipment and evaluate new technologies to enhance productivity, efficiency, quality and safety
- Provide training across sites to assure standardization
- Project management: coordinate with Marketing, Sales, Senior Management, Operations, Drafting, Shop, Test, Service, Finance, and Legal
- Conduct project team meetings and manage project schedules, feasibility, and budgets
- Recognize problems and initiate corrective actions; control expenditure on assigned projects
- Conduct regular design, quality, cost, manufacturability and safety reviews
- Work with legal on patent activity and liability cases; assist Test department with test plans
- Prepare reports and communicate to all levels of the organization
- Coach and lead subordinates; conduct performance appraisals and salary reviews; set and monitor objectives
- Assist in selection, training and discipline of employees; manage resources to complete approved projects
- Establish product specifications, conduct feasibility studies, and generate marketable product ideas
- Assure quality, reliability, serviceability, safety, cost and performance objectives; work with vendors and Purchasing
- Learn and implement new technologies; apply value analysis techniques; provide hands-on technical support as needed
Requirements
- Position is hired under El Paso, TX location but will be providing support in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States

- Bachelor of Science concluded in Industrial, Electromechanical, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering
- Six to Eight (6-8) years of experience in similar role
- Plastics Extrusion experience
- Maintenance: Compliance with local facility regulations
- Strong leadership, team building, organizational development, coaching and communication skills
- Hands-on orientation for continuous improvement, process optimization, and process development projects
- Ability to make facility level decisions independently, consulting Director of Operations when affecting timelines/profit/capital
- Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to balance production
- Works well with ambiguity
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective in working within a highly matrixed organization
- Highly motivated, results oriented; ability to work independently under pressure and prioritize multiple initiatives
