About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a senior subject matter expert on ASC 606 and US GAAP revenue recognition
- Partner with executive and cross-functional stakeholders to guide business decisions and structure complex commercial arrangements
- Strengthen the overall Quote-to-Cash ecosystem
- Manage, mentor, and develop revenue accounting and revenue recognition professionals, including managers and analysts
- Lead and scale the Technical and Operational Revenue Organization
- Drive talent development, succession planning, organizational design, process excellence, systems improvement, and strong controllership
- Own complex revenue recognition matters and manage the revenue cycle for accurate ASC 606-compliant recognition
- Update revenue recognition policy manuals and procedures
- Communicate technical perspectives to sales, customer-facing personnel, finance teams, and management
- Review customer contracts for revenue recognition implications and collaborate with Sales on transaction structuring
- Prepare technical position papers and provide guidance to non-finance organizations on new accounting guidelines
- Manage the monthly revenue close process, including close analyses and reviews
- Establish and maintain policies, controls, and governance frameworks for accurate, timely, and compliant revenue reporting
- Oversee revenue-related policy disclosures for US GAAP and SEC compliance
- Work with internal and external auditors regarding revenue recognition interpretations and guidance
- Drive integration alignment across revenue-related areas, enhance key revenue controls, improve operations, provide analytics for strategic decisions, and support system enhancements and automation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Licensed CPA
- 15–18 years of progressive revenue recognition and accounting experience
- Mix of Big 4 accounting firm experience, preferably at the Senior Manager level, and public-company experience with multiple, complex revenue streams in a high-growth environment
- Multinational industry experience
- Deep expertise in ASC 606 and current accounting guidance for hardware, software, and services revenue recognition
- Ability to conduct technical accounting research and document findings
- Excellent verbal, written, and listening skills
- Ability to collaborate, guide, and interact professionally with personnel at various organizational levels
- Ability to present information confidently and accurately to internal management and external auditors
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to adapt to change
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills; ability to lead through complexity, manage multiple high-priority initiatives, and meet strict deadlines
- Experience managing team members and training and developing employees
- Strong knowledge of SOX requirements, including assessing, developing, and implementing internal controls
- Experience with larger ERP systems, including SAP, RevPro, and related data across a global business
- Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
