About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work primarily in a data center environment at customer sites
  • Provide on-premise field repair at customer facilities
  • Determine requirements and root causes of technical issues with customers in person
  • Answer inquiries by clarifying, researching, locating, and providing information
  • Perform hands-on work on servers, computers, and networking equipment
  • Resolve technical problems by researching solutions, implementing fixes, and escalating unresolved issues
  • Fulfill customer requests and complete or forward transactions
  • Manage and correct escalations quickly and professionally
  • Drive customer satisfaction through service excellence
  • Collaborate with engineers, account managers, and developers
  • Provide and contribute information such as fault triage and training materials
  • Complete required training and certification exams
  • Learn service and repair procedures for current, new, and updated systems
  • Support the global service network and help build a world-class field engineering organization

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school or Associate's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree in engineering is a huge plus
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in debugging, troubleshooting, or repair in the hardware industry, preferably computer and/or server products
  • Hands-on experience with servers such as Supermicro, EMC, DELL, or HP is a plus
  • Experience talking with customers and conflict resolution
  • Touch-type 40+ WPM
  • Relevant experience, including military experience or CLEP, may be counted towards degree
  • Background in Linux or networking is a plus
  • Ability to travel 15 days per year
  • Must have authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to use a buddy system for moving objects over 50 lbs
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack and forklift efficiently and safely, where applicable
  • Comfortable working in an environment with exposure to noise
  • Available to work weekends; schedule varies according to site operational needs
  • Physical dexterity necessary to perform job functions in a data center environment
