About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Embed effective Line 1 risk ownership across Marketing and Product and Commercial functions.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify, assess and manage compliance obligations.
  • Strengthen controls, support compliant go-to-market activity.
  • Provide practical risk insights that enable growth while meeting organisational standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Accountable for Line 1 compliance advisory, control uplift, assurance coordination, issue management and risk reporting for Marketing and relevant Product and Commercial activities.
  • Support business owners to design, implement, monitor and continuously improve key controls that manage compliance obligations.
  • Support product managers in understanding their specific compliance obligations.
  • Support the commercial team in understanding pricing and deal-making risk and escalation of specific compliance obligations.
  • Support marketing and martech teams to manage compliance across campaigns, offers, claims, customer communications, and digital journeys.
  • Coordinate Line 1 assurance activities over key controls, including control testing and issue identification.
  • Provide risk support to the procurement and vendor governance program.
  • Participation in business transformation programs and assurance and audit activities.
  • Lead incident reviews and remediation planning.
  • Prepare clear, evidence-based reporting for management and Board forums.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven capability in managing compliance risks within complex technology‑centric organisations
  • Experience working with marketing platforms, digital channels, customer communications, data use, privacy-sensitive processes, automation, APIs and emerging technologies such as AI.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries including telecommunications, energy and infrastructure
  • Knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment, including telecommunications industry obligations, Australian Consumer Law, consumer protection requirements, privacy, spam, digital communications and complaints-related obligations.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into business‑relevant risk insights and actions
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving risk culture uplift
  • Experience working on complex transformation projects
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Business, Risk Management, Compliance or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience in a regulated industry.
