Industrial Designer, Furniture

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, review, and maintain detailed technical drawings, 2D and 3D CAD models, and manufacturing specifications for furniture products
- Partner closely with the Product Development team to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing, assembly, cost, and logistics
- Collaborate with local manufacturing partners to ensure accurate design execution and resolve technical or production-related challenges
- Refine and adjust designs based on manufacturer feedback, material constraints, production capabilities, and cost targets while maintaining design intent
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, manufacturing tolerances, and quality control requirements
- Update technical documentation to reflect changes in design, materials, or manufacturing processes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date sample status reports and proactively follow up with factories to prevent delays
- Work closely with overseas factories to ensure materials and finishes align with approved swatches and specifications
- Conduct factory visits, when required, to review samples, troubleshoot issues, and ensure final product integrity
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 3–5 years of experience in industrial design with a strong focus on technical drawing and manufacturing; furniture industry experience required
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, or similar, as well as Adobe Creative Suite
- Solid understanding of furniture materials, construction methods, and manufacturing processes (wood, metal, upholstery)
- Demonstrated ability to produce detailed production drawings, prototypes, and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced development environment
- A keen eye for detail, proportion, and quality—paired with a practical, production-minded approach
- Excellent communication skills, particularly when working with international teams and vendors
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
- Portfolio that highlights technical drawing skills, CAD capabilities, and relevant furniture design experience.
