About the role
- Underwriting new or renewal business under 2000 lives for group employee benefits product lines
- Evaluate, price and propose rate and strategy on small to mid-market Dental, Vision, Life, Optional Life, STD or LTD business
- Perform underwriting functions associated with manual and experience rating
- Analyze information on industry, past claim history, financial conditions and other criteria
- Manage assigned workload to meet internal productivity and time service standards
- Understand and articulate sales region specific strategies and trends to drive sales and renewal results
Requirements
- BA/BS degree preferred
- 2 - 4 years group insurance experience
- Some underwriting experience preferred
- Proficiency in Excel
- Above average math aptitude
- Ability to make quality risk decisions
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively negotiate/be persuasive
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
