About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop, implement and operationalize data governance program
Ensure data quality framework, critical data elements framework and other policies are implemented across multiple business units
Execute existing enterprise data governance policies, standards, and best practices
Oversee Regional Canadian Data Governance Council
Support the execution of the enterprise Data Quality Management Framework
Partner with data engineering and BI teams to develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance dashboard
Work closely with enterprise data governance, senior management, and business and technology stakeholders
Provide guidance on internal risk and compliance policies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in data governance, ideally within insurance, wealth management or other financial services
Experience in program development and using data governance tools and platforms such as AWS, Snowflake, Collibra or similar platforms
Working knowledge of data management concepts, processes, and tools (e.g., Collibra, JIRA, Confluence), with familiarity in SQL and cloud platforms
Effective stakeholder engagement and relationship‑management skills, including the ability to prepare materials, brief senior leaders, and drive collaboration across diverse internal teams.
University degree in business, engineering, computer science or related discipline
This role requires Reliability Security Clearance.
Understanding of OSFI E-21, E23, privacy regulations and internal Sun Life policies.
