About the role

  • Support site manufacturing operations by providing process and quality troubleshooting
  • Leading process optimization projects, improving reliability, coordinating new production introductions
  • Implementing improvement ideas and small projects to achieve site objectives in the most safe, economical and efficient manner
  • Assist the site in meeting its regulatory requirements
  • Review, monitor, develop, modify and maintain manufacturing processes and their control systems to maximize contribution to profitability
  • Utilize lean manufacturing tools where appropriate
  • Design data collection plans, lead plant trials, analyze data, and implement improvements
  • Lead or participate in teams in support of optimizing plant processes for quality, cost, reliability, and productivity
  • Monitor and help establish the performance standards for the manufacturing process and the systems which control them
  • Maintain process databases and provide timely and routine feedback to those responsible for the performance
  • Troubleshoot system and process problems in collaboration with others to ensure that all aspects of the manufacturing process, process control system and equipment operation are managed effectively
  • Management of small capital projects to support asset effectiveness and production needs
  • Support plant operations by participating in off-hours call rotation
  • Provide 24 hr. on-call technical support for troubleshooting process and control system problems
  • Recommend and implement control system hardware and software upgrades as necessary
  • Ensure all ISO, and other regulatory, external and internal, requirements are met
  • Coordinating and leading PHAs, managing/supporting the EtQ reporting tools, investigating incidents, driving/coordinating closure of action items
  • Support and adhere to the principles of the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® by protecting the environment, health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, carriers, distributors, visitors, customers and neighbors
  • Be knowledgeable of and follow all Environmental, Health and Safety practices

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of chemical processes both batch and continuous operations required
  • Familiar with typical chemical plant equipment, instrumentation and automation systems
  • Familiar with typical chemical plant safety programs including Management of Change
  • Functional computer skills required: standard desktop applications, field instrument and VFD programming
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent preferred
  • 3-5 years technical experience in the Chemical industry required
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Must be able to work independently, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and serving as a member of or interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams
