About the role
- Plan and Execute defined scope of CAPEX measures and projects (or their own subprojects) within budget, time, quality, and safety parameters.
- Prepare project approval documentation.
- Carry out all project phases, from project idea to scoping, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
- Prepare relevant designs, cost estimates, time schedules, resource plans, risk analysis, including HAZOPs, change orders, etc.
- Coordinate project work with relevant interfaces (internal & external) such as R&D, Operations, EHS, Maintenance, Legal M&A, Procurement, authorities, suppliers, contractors, etc.
- Ensure full compliance with the best internal and external practices, guidelines, regulations, and legislation.
- Select and functionally manage assigned project members.
- Select and manage engineering consultants and contractors.
- Specify and select services, machinery, equipment, etc.
- Responsible for regular project controlling & reporting to the Steering Committee/Senior Management.
- Ensure appropriate project and technical documentation is met.
- Responsible for post-completion project evaluation (KPI’s, lessons learned, etc.).
- Review, develop, and update engineering processes and procedures.
- Coaching of less experienced colleagues.
Requirements
- Engineering degree in Chemical or Mechanical
- 15 years of experience in project engineering or comparable technical roles
- 10 years of direct project experience as Project Manager
- Preference for the experience to be in the chemical industry
- Project Management skills (formal training desirable)
- The ability to drive execution, lead courageously, and strategically plan in a way that advocates for the customer
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels
- Experience with Chemical Processing, grinding & dispersing technology
- Familiarity with NFPA (National Fire Protection Agency), ATEX (Atmosphere Explosible), European version of NFPA, and ICC(International Code Council) for building codes (desired)
- Strong understanding of Cost engineering
