About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Monitor and analyze monthly AWS billing data, identify cost spikes, anomalies, and architectural inefficiencies.
- Develop, enforce, and maintain a strict global resource tagging policy.
- Proactively analyze and manage AWS Savings Plans and Reserved Instances (RIs).
- Identify orphaned resources, unused volumes, and idle staging/dev environments.
- Collaborate with product and business analysts on mapping infrastructure hosting costs to product revenue.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong engineering foundation (former System Administrator, DevOps, QA Automation or Technical Support Engineer) with a passion for data analysis and cloud cost efficiency.
- Practical experience with standard AWS cost tracking tools (AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, Cost and Usage Report (CUR)).
- Deep understanding of core AWS services (EC2, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, Networking) and their billing mechanisms.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex cloud metrics into actionable insights.
- Strong skills in data manipulation and writing custom queries to analyze infrastructure spending data.
- Nice to have: Experience with ClickHouse and dbt (Data Build Tool); hands-on experience with Amazon Athena and SQL; background in regulated environments (FinTech/SaaS) with understanding of PCI DSS compliance.
