About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide logistics service to Principals to ensure the safe and smooth turnaround of appointed vessels within the port office jurisdiction
- Manage vessel requirements
- Procure relevant vendor services
- Undertake vessel boarding as required
- Deliver safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations in compliance with maritime regulations and company standards
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant operational matters
- Perform office and non-manual work supporting Inchcape’s 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week on-call services for Principals
- Work under the direction of the Operations Manager
- Travel around specified port/terminal locations and surrounding areas
Requirements
What you’ll need- Foundational knowledge of Port Operations and Port Agency services
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to multitask and demonstrate strong initiative
- Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize and maintain attention to detail
- High level of accuracy and results-driven approach
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, including strong verbal and listening skills
- Ability to board vessels via gangway and/or pilot ladder alongside berth and over open water
- Ability to climb, ascend, and descend ladders, stairs, and ramps using feet/legs and/or hands/arms
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in cold, heat, wind, rain, and snow
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Prior marine agency experience desired but not required
- Eligibility to work in the US
- Reliable transportation
- Valid non-expired state driver’s license
- Vehicle insurance coverage
- Must undergo a federal background check for the TWIC program or already possess a TWIC
- TWIC must be obtained within 30 days of appointment and maintained for the duration of employment
