About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide logistics service to Principals to ensure the safe and smooth turnaround of appointed vessels within the port office jurisdiction
  • Manage vessel requirements
  • Procure relevant vendor services
  • Undertake vessel boarding as required
  • Deliver safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations in compliance with maritime regulations and company standards
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment on significant operational matters
  • Perform office and non-manual work supporting Inchcape’s 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week on-call services for Principals
  • Work under the direction of the Operations Manager
  • Travel around specified port/terminal locations and surrounding areas

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Foundational knowledge of Port Operations and Port Agency services
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate strong initiative
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain attention to detail
  • High level of accuracy and results-driven approach
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, including strong verbal and listening skills
  • Ability to board vessels via gangway and/or pilot ladder alongside berth and over open water
  • Ability to climb, ascend, and descend ladders, stairs, and ramps using feet/legs and/or hands/arms
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in cold, heat, wind, rain, and snow
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Prior marine agency experience desired but not required
  • Eligibility to work in the US
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid non-expired state driver’s license
  • Vehicle insurance coverage
  • Must undergo a federal background check for the TWIC program or already possess a TWIC
  • TWIC must be obtained within 30 days of appointment and maintained for the duration of employment
